Fenerbahce are waiting for the new administration to take charge of the club next month before ratifying a deal to sell Martin Skrtel to Rangers this summer.

New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been keen to sign his former Liverpool team-mate as he looks to rebuild a squad that finished third in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The Slovakian’s experience is greatly valued by the former Liverpool captain and there are suggestions that a deal has all been agreed between the parties for a transfer.

Skrtel is said to have agreed a three-year contract with Rangers and the club have also reached an agreement over a fee with Fenerbahce for the 33-year-old defender.

However, the agreement has not been ratified yet and according to Ajanspor, Rangers will have to wait until the start of next month before getting their hands on Skrtel.

It has been claimed that the outgoing Fenerbahce administration are not keen to take the decision and the deal will only be ratified once the new hierarchy are elected on 3rd June.

And therefore despite all the agreements being in place, Rangers are not expected to be given the green light to sign the defender before the first week of June.
