Maurizio Sarri has rejected an opportunity to talk to Zenit Saint Petersburg while he waits for Chelsea to find a resolution for Antonio Conte.

Napoli sacked the former banker on Wednesday and appointed three-time Champions League winning manager Carlo Ancelotti as their head coach on a three-year deal.

The 59-year-old has been on Chelsea’s radar as Conte’s replacement for several months and his agents are reportedly expected to meet the Blues today to discuss a possible move to west London.

However, Chelsea are yet to find any solution for Conte, who still has a year left on his contract with the club, and it has been claimed that it is highly unlikely that the two parties will reach an agreement to part ways today.

Sarri on the other hand is waiting for Chelsea to play their cards right and resolve the Conte situation and according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, he has rejected an offer of talks with Zenit.

The Russian outfit have been interested in snapping up the highly rated Italian coach, but the former Napoli boss is keener on the Chelsea move and for the moment he is not prepared to entertain talks with Zenit.

Sarri’s future now largely depends on what Chelsea do with Conte, who has made it clear he won’t be leaving the club of his own accord.

Conte’s representatives are keen to make Chelsea pay the full compensation if they decide to sack the Premier League and the FA Cup winning manager this summer.
