Swansea goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt believes Graham Potter’s style of football would fit perfectly at the Liberty Stadium and believes he could return the club to their original philosophy.

Potter has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Swansea to become their new manager and the club are not expecting any trouble in agreeing a compensation fee with Ostersunds.

Swansea are expected to confirm the 43-year-old’s appointment by the end of the week and Nordfeldt believes that after following Ostersunds over the last few years, he believes Potter would fit in perfectly at the Liberty Stadium.

He pointed out that Ostersunds played the kind of football under Potter that Swansea used to play a few seasons ago before they lost their identity in order to survive in the Premier League.

He indicated that after being relegated to the Championship a man such as Potter could help Swansea return to their roots and look to play more positive football.

The goalkeeper was quoted as saying by Expressen when asked about Potter potentially becoming the next Swansea manager: “It [the speculation] has been difficult to avoid.

“I have followed Ostersunds' fantastic journey and I have spoken to Ken [Sema] about the times he was there.

“There has been hardly anything negative I have heard.

“I think the football Ostersunds have played would fit perfectly into the philosophy that the club want to embrace.

“You could see the club have lost some identity over the last two season, if you want to be objective.

“Swansea have always stood for positive football and have been a bit different in Britain.

“But it might have disappeared over the last two years as we played for survival. It became more important than the philosophy on which the club was built upon.

“But if he is clear to become the new manager, I have no idea.

“He is probably one of the candidates who have been highlighted and it feels like a reasonable choice.”

Potter took charge of Ostersunds when they were in the fourth tier of Swedish football and they eventually played in the Europa League last 16 this season.
