Juventus and Manchester United are set to go head to head for the signature of Valencia full-back Joao Cancelo after Inter Milan backed out of taking up the option to sign him.

Inter signed the Portuguese full-back from Valencia last summer on a loan deal with an option to make the move for permanent for an agreed transfer fee of €35m.

For a while Inter considered renegotiating the fee for Cancelo, but Valencia recently made it clear that the Nerazzurri would have to pay the agreed figure if they wanted the defender.

And Inter coach Luciano Spalletti confirmed on Thursday that Inter are not going to take up the option of signing the Portuguese, which has opened the avenue for other clubs to sign Cancelo.

And according to Italian daily Corriere di Torino, Juventus and Manchester United are set to fight for the signature of the 23-year-old right-back during the ongoing transfer window.

Cancelo has been on Manchester United’s radar as Jose Mourinho looks to add full-backs to his squad and Juventus are also considering signing him despite being on the verge of taking Matteo Darmian from the Red Devils.

Either club will have to match the fee Valencia agreed with Inter last summer as the Spanish giants are unlikely to lower the price for Cancelo after an impressive season in Serie A.

He has a contract until 2021 with Los Che.
