The agent of Manchester City target Jorginho has conceded that it is important to know whether new Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep the player at the club.

Manchester City have identified Jorginho as one of their priority targets for the summer, but they have already seen Napoli knock back an initial bid for the midfielder.

Napoli have demanded a transfer fee worth €60m before they agree to sell the midfielder this summer and his agent, Joao Santos, stressed that there is no agreement either between the club and the player or between the two outfits.

The Italian’s agent conceded that Napoli’s appointment of Ancelotti came as a major surprised and admits that it is important to know whether the new coach is keen to hold on to the player.

He further revealed that Pep Guardiola has been in touch with Jorginho to convince him to move to the Etihad this summer.

Santos said on Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss: “The arrival of Ancelotti was a real surprise but the dynamics of modern football are such that we have to get accustomed to such changes.

“Today Jorginho is a Napoli player, he has not signed with anyone and Napoli have not negotiated an agreement with any club.

“However, Napoli and Manchester City have continued to talk, we’ll see what will happen in the future.

“You also have to figure out if Ancelotti wants Jorginho or not, I don’t know what he is thinking.

“The player was definitely contacted by Pep Guardiola and other coaches.

"We’ll see what happens after the national team’s friendly matches.”

Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have also shown interest in the Napoli midfielder, but for the moment Manchester City have a major edge in the transfer chase.
