Departing Leeds United hitman Pierre-Michel Lasogga has admitted he would like to help Hamburg win instant promotion back to the Bundesliga and at present is preparing to be at the club on the first day of pre-season.

Lasogga spent the season on loan at Leeds, but there is so far no sign that the Whites want to approach Hamburg about signing him on a permanent deal.

And Lasogga says he can well imagine putting in the hard yards in an effort to help Hamburg bounce straight back up to the Bundesliga after their relegation this season.

The striker told German daily Bild: "I am a HSV player and I have another year on my contract.

"That is why I currently assume that I will be in Hamburg for the start of training", Lasogga continued.

"HSV do not belong in the second division, everybody knows that.

"I am wishing for this huge club to go straight back up.

"That is what the fans deserve.

"If I can help with goals, I'll be glad."

It is unclear whether Lasogga will still be at Hamburg into next season as the club remain keen to offload his substantial €3.4m yearly salary.

He made 33 appearances across all competitions for Leeds this season, scoring ten goals and providing his team-mates with four assists.

At present the Whites appear to be focusing on other striking options, rather than pushing to re-sign Lasogga from Hamburg.
