Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has rejected the compromise figure Chelsea have offered for Maurizio Sarri and he has demanded that they pay his full release clause.

Sarri was removed as Napoli’s coach last week, with Carlo Ancelotti replacing him, but his contract with the Serie A giants is still in effect.

The 59-year-old has been in talks with Chelsea, who are looking for a replacement for Antonio Conte, and there are suggestions that an agreement is close between the two parties.

A two-year deal has been mooted, but Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement over the compensation fee for Sarri’s release with Napoli and a deal is far from agreed.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Napoli outright rejected an offer of €4m from Chelsea for Sarri and have made it clear that they are not looking to negotiate a price.

The Italian has an €8m release clause in his contract and Napoli president De Laurentiis has been adamant that he won’t water down the figure for any club.

Chelsea could be forced to pay the full buy-out clause and agree another expensive payoff with Conte before they can appoint Sarri as their new manager.
