Anderlecht have thrashed out personal terms on a contract with Newcastle United defender and Celtic target Chancel Mbemba.

Mbemba left Anderlecht to join Newcastle in 2015 and it seems he is on his way back to the club in the ongoing summer transfer window as the Belgian giants look to push through a deal.

Anderlecht were already in talks with Newcastle for the permanent move of Matz Sels when the Magpies offered the Congolese defender and the club showed instant interest in signing him.

It emerged on Monday that Anderlecht were preparing to offer contractual terms, but it has been claimed that Mbemba has already agreed a deal with the club ahead of a proposed move.

According to Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant, the centre-back has given his nod to a four-year contract and is now waiting for the two clubs to thrash out an agreement over a fee.
