Laurent Blanc is scheduled to meet Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia in the coming days to further discuss the possibility of becoming the next manager at Stamford Bridge.

The former Manchester United defender has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 and has emerged as a prime candidate to succeed Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

While Chelsea are yet to sack Conte or inform him about his position at the club, the Blues have been actively holding talks with candidates to appoint a new manager to replace the Italian.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique are in contention, but Chelsea are believed to be tipping towards appointing Blanc this summer.

The former PSG boss has already been in talks with Chelsea over becoming their new manager and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, he will meet key Roman Abramovich aide Granovskaia in the coming days for further discussions.

The Russian-Canadian has been leading Chelsea’s charge for the appointment of a new manager and has already met several candidates in her pursuit to get a new man in place as soon as possible.

While Blanc is still not the clear favourite to become the next Chelsea manager, him being available at the moment and the Frenchman’s more conciliatory character make him an attractive option for the Blues.

However, no appointment can be made until Chelsea reach an agreement with Conte over his payoff and terminate his contract.
