Leeds United won’t move forward with their interest in Derby County striker Matej Vydra unless he drops his current financial demands.

The Derby striker has been on Leeds’ radar this summer and new head coach Marcelo Bielsa is said to be preferring a move for him over Abel Hernandez.

The Rams’ valuation of the player has been steep and Leeds have been confident of bridging the gap, but it has been claimed the club have been left shocked by his wage demands.

The striker’s financial demands have brought the negotiations to a standstill as Leeds continue to search for a goalscorer in the ongoing summer window.

And unless Vydra decides to lower his demands, Leeds are unlikely to move forward with their interest in taking him to Elland Road in the coming weeks, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds are not keen to do a deal under the current scenario and are waiting for Vydra and his representatives to consider dropping his wage demands.

There is also talk that Vydra could move to the Chinese Super League this summer, with Derby resigned to losing him this summer if their asking price is met.

A proven goalscorer in the Championship, the Czech has netted 65 goals in 187 appearances in the second tier of English football.
