Real Betis have reached an agreement over a fee with Sporting Lisbon for the proposed transfer of Everton midfield target William Carvalho.

William unilaterally terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon earlier in the summer, citing just cause, but Betis have gone with the traditional negotiating tactics to get the deal over the line.

The Spanish club were keen to avoid any future legal hassles by trying to sign the midfielder on a free transfer and negotiated a deal with Sporting Lisbon for the Portuguese.

And according to Spanish sports daily AS, the two have clubs found an agreement over a fee for William's proposed move to Betis in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Sporting Lisbon have agreed to sell the player to Betis for an initial fee of €17m, with the final figure set to reach €25m based on various bonuses.

The midfielder has also agreed a five-year contract with the club and will become the highest paid played in Betis’ history once he signs the €2.5m per year deal.

William is also set to become the second most expensive player in the club’s history as well once he completes the move.

Despite interest from Everton and Inter Milan, it has been claimed that no other club made an offer for him this summer.
