Chelsea have set a deadline for Brazilian winger Bernard to agree to join, after which they will turn towards other targets.

The 25-year-old winger is a free agent after he left Shakhtar Donetsk at the end of his contract this summer and has been linked with a move to a slew of top European clubs.

His agent has been in talks with AC Milan and the Rossoneri have tabled a contract offer for the winger, who is favouring a move to the San Siro this summer.

Bernard has also been on Chelsea’s radar and the Blues have been trying to convince the player to move to England over considering a switch to Italy in the coming weeks.

However, Chelsea are not willing to waste too much time on Bernard and according to Italian broadcaster Premium Sport, they want an answer before next Tuesday.

They have only signed Jorginho from Napoli this summer and with a week left in the window, the club are in no mood to engage in lengthy negotiations for any player.

AC Milan remain Bernard’s choice and the player is waiting for club sporting director Leonardo to green light a move for the winger.
