Brighton have jumped into the race for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn, who has been on Celtic’s radar all summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The 23-year-old midfielder’s future has been under the scanner due to interest from Scottish champions Celtic, who have tabled a bid to take him to Glasgow in the ongoing window.

Celtic have been hopeful of working out an agreement with Hibs for McGinn and the midfielder has been one of the top priorities for Brendan Rodgers this summer.

However, it seems the Bhoys are now set to face some stiff competition for McGinn’s signature from down south as it has been claimed Brighton are interested in the 23-year-old.

The Seagulls have been in talks with Hibernian over taking McGinn to the south coast of England in the ongoing window.

With the window for the Premier League clubs to make signings closing next Thursday, Brighton are expected to press the accelerator in negotiations to get the deal over the line in the coming days.

A life-long Celtic supporter, it remains to be seen whether McGinn can resist the temptation of playing in the Premier League if Brighton reach an agreement with Hibernian.

Celtic are hopeful that the lure of playing at Paradise will still be a huge pull for the Glasgow-born midfielder and they have longer than Brighton to do a deal.
