Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino insists that many things can happen during the closing stages of the transfer window.

Spurs have not made a single signing so far this summer and the Premier League's decision to close its transfer window on 9th August, a date no other European league has fallen into line with, could bite the White Hart Lane outfit.

Pochettino is not sure why his side have not brought in reinforcements yet, but he is hoping that the final week of the window can throw up opportunities as is so often the case.

"We are working so hard but still we are like we were on the first day of the transfer window, with no signings", Pochettino was quoted as saying by football.london.

Asked about the lack of signings and how it has happened, he replied: "I think I am not the person to explain this. Of course people expect a manager to explain it.

"But in this situation for different reasons it has been difficult to add players who can help us. But you know in the last week can happen many things."

Tottenham have been linked with a host of players this summer, including Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish.

But there is now a real risk Spurs will not improve their squad this summer and will head into the Premier League campaign without having matched their rivals in the market.
