Napoli are working overtime to reach an agreement with Lille for the signature of Southampton target Kevin Malcuit.

The Serie A side want to land Malcuit to bolster their full-back options, but are facing opposition from the Premier League in the shape of Southampton.

The Saints are claimed to be serious about wanting Malcuit, but Napoli are putting in the legwork on a deal.

According to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, Carlo Ancelotti's side have offered Lille €8m plus bonuses.

However, at present they are still €2m to €3m off reaching the price Lille want.

Napoli also hold an interest in Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian.

But the Red Devils want close to €20m to let Darmian leave and Napoli are not keen to shell out such a sum.

As such they are focusing on signing Malcuit from Lille in a bid to address their need for a full-back.

It remains to be seen what Southampton's next move in the saga will be.
