Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed his side have an agreement with Lille for Southampton target Kevin Malcuit.

The Serie A giants have been looking to get the full-back through the door at the San Paolo as a cheaper alternative to Manchester United's Matteo Darmian.

They have been facing competition from the Premier League in the shape of Southampton, but Napoli are on course to beat the Saints to Malcuit.

Ahead of Napoli's friendly against Liverpool in Dublin on Saturday, De Laurentiis told Sky Italia that his side have a deal in place for Malcuit.

"We've got Malcuit", the Napoli supremo said.

"He comes on a permanent basis, €12m plus bonuses making a total of €13m."

It remains to be seen if landing Malcuit effectively ends Napoli's interest in signing Darmian from Manchester United.

Napoli went down 5-0 in their friendly clash against Liverpool in Dublin, with Jurgen Klopp's men turning on the style.

Liverpool's goals in Dublin came through James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno.
