Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has conceded that his club are facing a tough few days ahead in their attempts to keep Tottenham Hotspur target Jack Grealish at the club.

The young winger has a contract until 2020 with the Championship club and the Villans are struggling to hold on to the player because of interest from the Premier League.

Several top tier sides are interested in Grealish, but Tottenham are the ones who have been in talks with Aston Villa to take the 22-year-old to north London before Thursday's Premier League deadline.

However, Bruce insisted that the Championship club are yet to receive a good enough offer for the Englishman

"The offer we had has not been enough to be tempted. We hope he's still our player by Friday", the Aston Villa manager told BBC West Midlands.

"But the last thing we want to do is pull the wool over anyone's eyes. We all know the situation."

Bruce reiterated Aston Villa’s desire to keep the player but admits it could be tough to convince Grealish to continue at the club when he has an offer to play Champions League football next season.

He conceded that the Villans are facing a tense few days ahead as they attempt to hold on to Grealish.

"The owners have publicly stated that they don't want him to leave. But there's a human element within that, which we all understand.

"There's a chance of Champions League football for him.

"I don't want him to go but we'll just have to see what happens.

"It's going to be a long three days."
