Jack Grealish wants to move to Tottenham Hotspur and has been under the impression a transfer would go through before Thursday's deadline for Premier League signings, according to Sky Sports News.

Aston Villa are digging their heels in when it comes to keeping the attacker and have vowed not to sell him this summer.

Spurs put a bid of £25m in for Grealish, but Aston Villa wasted no time in knocking it back and insisting that they view the talent as not for sale.

Villa's stance has not changed, but Grealish is keen to move to White Hart Lane.

Grealish and his advisors thought that a move would go through and Aston Villa's stance has come as a surprise.

Now Villa, who could yet be tested by further bids for Grealish on deadline day, will need to focus the attacker's thoughts back on the job at hand at Villa Park.

Boss Steve Bruce is counting on Grealish to produce a big season as the club again hunt promotion to the Premier League.

Tottenham have yet to make a signing this summer.
