Premier League side Everton have signed former Shakhtar Donetsk winger Bernard on a four-year deal after the 25-year-old received his work permit.

The Toffees have been active in the transfer market on the Premier League's deadline day, with the finishing touches being put to deals for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes.

Manager Marco Silva also wanted to get Marcos Rojo from Manchester United through the door.

Jose Mourinho's defensive target Kurt Zouma is also wanted by the Toffees and could yet join.

Bernard quickly agreed personal terms with the club and also acquired his work permit.

The wide-man had been a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk and has been holding talks with a number of clubs.
