West Ham new boy Carlos Sanchez has revealed that the fans, the project and the lure of playing in the Premier League were motivations behind his move to the London Stadium.

The 32-year-old has joined the Hammers on a two-year deal, arriving from Fiorentina.

The move is the veteran's second spell in England, having previously spent two years at Aston Villa from 2014 to 2016.

Sanchez said that he is very happy to have secured the move as it will allow him to play in England once again. The Colombia international also took time to insist that he was even attracted by the project in place at the London Stadium.

“I’m very happy to be here. I’m very excited and looking forward to achieving lots", Sanchez told his club's official website.

“I decided to come here because, first, it is the Premier League, second, it’s a beautiful club and the fans are always helping the club and, third, for me it’s an amazing opportunity and an amazing project the club are leading, being ambitious and keen to achieve good things.

“I’d like to thank all of the people, the whole club, for having me."

Sanchez is the ninth player to arrive at the London Stadium this summer and will be joining the likes of Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson at the heart of the West Ham team.
