Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he will need to assess his players who came back late from duty at the World Cup, to decide whether they will be able to feature in the game against Newcastle United.

The Lilyhwites are scheduled to kick off their 2018/19 domestic campaign with an away fixture against Newcastle on Saturday.

The team from London had a large number of players at the World Cup in Russia, meaning they were entitled to return back to club duty later.

The Argentine manager concedes that it is a matter of concern for him and he will only be able to take a final decision only after holding training.

However, he feels it is difficult to feel all will be up to starting.

"We need to assess", the manager said in an interview with the club's official channel.

"There is still tomorrow and then we are going to decide.

"It is true that it is so difficult to think that all the players are going to play I think in the starting eleven.

"Some players will be in the starting eleven, some will be on the bench."

The 2018/19 season will be significant for the Londoners, who will be returning to White Hart Lane after using Wembley as their home in the league last season.
