New Rangers defender Borna Barisic has revealed that he felt the craziness of the Ibrox atmosphere while playing at the ground with Osijek and can't wait to play in front of the home fans.

The 25-year-old went through a whirlwind series of events over the course of last week, playing at Ibrox with the Croatian outfit on 2nd August and then joining the club on the 7th.

While the defender remains ineligible to play for the Scottish giants in the Europa League qualifiers and had to watch Steven Gerrard's side from outside as they registered a Europa League third round qualifying win against NK Maribor on Thursday, he is eager to get to work and repay the fans for their show of faith.

Barisic insists that he was very much impressed with the atmosphere at Ibrox when he went there to play and now is looking to get down to work as the Gers prepare for their second match of the season, and the first at home, against St Mirren.

“We will see if I play on Sunday, I hope that I will run out at Ibrox this weekend because it is a top atmosphere", Barisic told his club's official website.

“I felt the atmosphere when I played here with Osijek, the fans are really positive; they are crazy and I like that.

“I didn’t know when I played here last week that I could be signing for Rangers. I played like I was the Osijek captain and for them but I am very happy to be here now.

“When I came here I got a lot of messages and I would like to thank all the fans for the kind words.

“Now I need to give back to them on the pitch but for me most importantly I want to play very good football in every game and then that will make them happy."

Barisic's contract with Rangers will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2022.
