Joel Campbell has checked in for a medical at Frosinone ahead of his proposed transfer from Arsenal this summer.

After spending last season on loan at Real Betis, the striker is finally on the verge of ending his seven-year spell with Arsenal with a move to Italy.

It became abundantly clear earlier in the summer that the Costa Rican, who has had a spate of loan spells since joining Arsenal in 2011, is not part of Unai Emery’s plans this season.

While it is unclear how much Arsenal are getting for the forward, the club have reached an agreement to sell the striker to newly promoted Serie A outfit Frosinone.

The forward flew down to Italy on Wednesday and checked in for a medical with the Italian outfit this morning.

He told Sky Italia ahead of his move to Frosinone: “I am very happy to be here.”

After undergoing the medical, Campbell will sign a three-year contract with Frosinone and formally end his time with Arsenal.

He has made just 40 appearances for the Gunners since 2011.
