Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is fairly confident that he has not damaged his anterior cruciate ligament as he prepares to undergo more tests on his knee today.

The midfielder suffered a knee injury in training on Wednesday and was spotted on crutches as he prepares for a lengthy layoff on the sidelines due to the injury.

He underwent preliminary tests and there are suggestions he suffered a similar injury to the one he endured in 2016, when he was out for a while from the game.

An initial prognosis suggests that the Belgian could be out for two to three months, but the recovery period has not been finalised.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, De Bruyne will undergo further tests today to determine the extent of the injury and possible recovery time.

There are fears that he could have damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, which could mean that he would miss the rest of the 2018/19 campaign.

However, the Belgian is certain that the injury is not that serious and he has not again damaged his lateral ligament in his knee like in 2016.

But he is still expected to miss the next two to three months of the season and it remains to be seen how Pep Guardiola’s champions cope with their creative heart missing from action.
