Celtic new boy Daniel Arzani has revealed that he spoke to his countryman Tom Rogic before opting for the move to Parkhead, and was told that if the club was not good enough, the 25-year-old would not have signed a contract extension.

The Bhoys have secured a two-year loan deal for the 19-year-old, bringing him in from Premier League side Manchester City.

Arzani impressed for his country in the World Cup in Russia earlier in the summer, becoming the youngest player in the tournament. His performances drew attention, with the Citizens signing him from Melbourne City early in August.

And now the Premier League champions have sent the starlet out on loan in order to let him gain experience at first team level.

Arzani on his part thanked his national team-mate Rogic for helping him take the decision, saying that if Celtic were not good enough Rogic would not have signed a contract extension.

“I gave Tom a call and had a chat with him about the club and everything was positive”, Arzani told his club's official website.

“Basically he said to me that if it wasn’t so good, he wouldn’t have signed an extension to stay at Celtic Park.

"Apparently, playing in front of the Celtic fans is absolutely amazing and I’m really excited about that."

The Bhoys have drawn criticism for not being active in the transfer market, with manager Brendan Rodgers expressing his disappointment after being knocked out of the Champions League.
