Cagliari coach Rolando Maran believes the club's capture of Ragnar Klavan from Liverpool was an important piece of business.
The Italian Serie A side raced against the clock and got Klavan in through the door before the transfer window in the country closed on Friday night.
Cagliari have paid Liverpool €2m for Klavan, who has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year.
Maran is delighted that the experienced centre-back has joined and feels signing him was important for Cagliari.
"Klavan is an important buy", Maran told a press conference when asked about the Estonian defender.
"I have not yet seen him in person, but everyone speaks about him with enthusiasm.
"We have a mix of young and more experienced players."
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp signed Klavan from German club Augsburg in 2016 and he operated as a backup centre-back at Anfield.
Klavan had just a year left on his contract with Liverpool and will now bid to enjoy regular game time in Italy with Cagliari, who open their Serie A campaign on Sunday by travelling to lock horns with Empoli.
