Chelsea target Leon Bailey has put pen to paper to a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

The winger has seen himself linked with a host of clubs this summer after his impressive performances at the BayArena for Leverkusen last term.

Both Bayern Munich and Roma were also linked with Bailey, while Chelsea are long time admirers of the wide-man.

But Leverkusen have taken a big step towards making sure they can resist further interest in Bailey by locking him down to a new contract.

His previous deal at Leverkusen ran until 2022, but the new deal adds a year to that, running until 2023.

It is unclear whether there is any release clause in Bailey's new contract.

The 21-year-old joined the German Bundesliga side in 2017 from Belgian club Genk.

Leverkusen splashed out €20m to make sure they won the race for Bailey, who had been attracting significant interest from clubs in the Premier League.
