Aston Villa have made a move to sign Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi.

The Championship side can sign players until the end of the month, though any deals will only be initial loans; however, obligations to buy can be included, meaning the transfers are effectively permanent and would become so from January.

Villa boss Steve Bruce wants to add to his squad for the hard Championship slog ahead and has moved for young defender Moukoudi.

The Villa Park side have proposed a deal worth €9m to Le Havre for the 20-year-old centre-back, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

Moukoudi would have to join Aston Villa on loan, though the Championship side would commit to paying €9m for him in January.

The defender has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Le Havre.

Aston Villa are not unopposed in their interest in Moukoudi, with Ligue 1 side Rennes having been lining up a swoop for several weeks.

Le Havre star Moukoudi is a France Under-20 international.
