Manchester City and Manchester United target Philipp Max has switched agents.

The highly-rated defender was linked with several clubs over the course of the summer transfer window, including the two Premier League giants, along with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Bundesliga side Augsburg managed to keep hold of Max however, but in a move which may have future transfer implications, he has switched agents.

The 24-year-old has joined with the SportsTotal agency, who have renowned Germany internationals Toni Kroos and Marco Reus on the books.

"I have high goals, so the change came at the right time", Max told German daily Bild, explaining the agent move.

The left-back, who is the son of former German striker Martin Max, is looking to make the breakthrough into the senior Germany squad.

Max spent time in the youth ranks at 1860 Munich, Bayern Munich and Schalke, before turning professional at the Ruhr giants.

The defender moved to Augsburg from Karlsruher in 2015 and represented Germany at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
