Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda has revealed he had a late dash across London to beat the closure of the summer transfer window and sign for Vitesse.

Musonda joined Scottish champions Celtic in January on an 18-month loan deal, however he failed to make his mark in Scotland and the agreement was terminated earlier this summer.

As the transfer window clock ticked down, Musonda was still at Stamford Bridge, but he beat the deadline by completing a loan move to Dutch top flight club Vitesse.

It was a race against time, Musonda admits, telling Dutch daily De Gerlander: "I said yes and then I had to rush to Stamford Bridge to sign.

"I live an hour from the stadium.

"It was a race against the clock, yes, so with the car through London."

Upon signing Musonda, Vitesse revealed they had been chasing the attacker for three years, with him being firmly on their radar.

Musonda is aware he was a wanted man, but says the time was not right in the past, with other options appealing.

"Vitesse showed interest for three years", the Chelsea youngster said.

"I was honoured, but I chose other adventures."

Musonda, 21, is yet to make an appearance for Vitesse, who are next in action after the international break against Zwolle away from home in the Eredivisie.
