Tottenham Hotspur stood ready to let Georges-Kevin Nkoudou leave the club throughout the summer transfer window.

The winger was snapped up by Spurs from French giants Marseille in the summer of 2016, but struggled to make an impact and was loaned to Burnley in January this year.

His time at Turf Moor was a disappointment and Nkoudou returned to Tottenham this summer with his situation unclear.

A number of clubs were linked with the wide-man, including Saint-Etienne, Rennes and Mainz.

Nkoudou ended up staying put, but Tottenham were more than willing to let him leave.

Indeed, according to RMC Sport's Salim Baungally, speaking to French outlet Foot Mercato, Tottenham held the departure door open for Nkoudou to walk through all summer.

The winger is now facing what looks like an impossible task when it comes to securing any sort of playing time under Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Nkoudou could again be a prime departure candidate in the January window.
