Brazil and Liverpool midfielder Fabinho believes that Tiemoue Bakayoko will be better if he returns to Chelsea, due to a loan spell at AC Milan.

Fabinho, who made the move from Monaco to Liverpool this summer, played alongside Bakayoko at the Stade Louis II.

Bakayoko left Monaco a year before Fabinho and made the move to the Premier League with Chelsea, where he struggled to make an impact.

Chelsea loaned Bakayoko to AC Milan this summer and he may not return to Stamford Bridge as the Rossoneri have a purchase clause included in the agreement.

Fabinho believes that Bakayoko was unfairly criticised at Chelsea and has backed him to show his best if he returns from AC Milan.

"I don’t think he struggled that much", the Brazil international told Yahoo Sport.

"I watched a few games and he seemed always good to me.

"Obviously, in your first season in a new club it’s always difficult and I wasn’t expecting him to leave, but AC Milan are getting a great player.

"I’m sure he’ll be able to prove how good he is and show what he did at Monaco.

"I’m sure if he comes back to England he will be stronger and will show everyone what he’s capable of", Fabinho added.

Fabinho, who has five Brazil caps to his name, is having to wait for his chance to make an impact under Jurgen Klopp, due to Liverpool's extensive list of midfield options.
