Wayne Rooney has hailed Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard for taking the decision to move into management and is sure they will be wanted by Premier League clubs soon.

Both former England internationals took managerial posts in the summer, with Gerrard accepting the challenge of taking over at Rangers, while Lampard became boss of Derby County.




Rooney, who played alongside the pair for England and is now in the MLS with DC United as he continues his career on the pitch, feels that Lampard and Gerrard have done the right thing in moving into management.

And he thinks they will soon be wanted by Premier League clubs as they make the grade as managers in the game.
 


"Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have moved into management and I think it is brilliant for those two", Rooney was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

"It is the right time for young English managers to step forward.

"I am sure in two or three years there will be clubs in the Premier League coming to try to snatch them away."

Lampard's Derby side currently sit in seventh spot in the Championship standings, while Gerrard has Rangers fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

Gerrard has also led Rangers into the Europa League group stage.
