Chelsea youngster Mason Mount has admitted that he tries not to be fazed by how big the stage is every time he goes out to play football and added that his focus is purely on doing the best he can for the team.

The midfielder scored the winner on his debut for England Under-21s last week during their 2-1 win over Latvia in a European Championship qualification clash in Jelgava.

Mount, who is currently on loan at Derby County under Frank Lampard, put his feet to good use on a testing pitch where the Young Lions where initially trailing to the hosts.

However, the 19-year-old set up fellow Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham with an incisive pass for the equaliser before grabbing the winner in the second half.

The England Under-21 international conjured a match-winning performance on debut and put his extensive skill-set to good use to help the Young Lions to a strong position to qualify for the Under-21 European Championship in Italy next summer.

Mount admitted that he is never fazed by the opposition or the occasion as he purely concentrates on playing to his full potential and enjoying the game.

“For me, I try not to look at how ‘big’ anything is”, Mount told the FA’s official website.

“I just want to try and play football on the pitch and do the best I can.

“It was tough with the pitch and they were tough opponents to break down, but in these games you’ve just got to fight and the quality comes out and we got the win in the end”, he added.

England Under-21s are currently five points clear in their group in the qualifiers for the European Championship and can secure qualification with a result against Andorra in their next game in October.
