Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans has rallied the Reds' fans, urging them to play their part ahead of the club's Group C clash at home to Paris Saint-Germain.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are preparing to host Ligue 1 champions PSG in the group stage of this year’s competition this evening, as Liverpool aim to start positively in Group C.

The Reds have been drawn alongside PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League group this year and Klopp may have his work cut out to try and secure a place in the knockout stage.

Liverpool will be confident of their prospects this year after finishing as runners-up in the previous edition of the competition but the race for qualification will be a challenging one.

Evans, who was in charge of Liverpool during the 1990s, took to Twitter in order to express his excitement with the return of the competition and the prospect of facing PSG at home.

“What a great game it should be tonight. Two attacking teams with some of the world’s top players on both sides”, Evans wrote on Twitter.

“The start of our CL campaign, good luck lads and we as supporters have a big part to play as well.

“No better place to be than Anfield on a champions League night #YNWA”, he added.

Liverpool will be aiming to try and get a result at home to PSG on Tuesday as they try to put the disappointment of missing out in the final in May behind them.
