Tyler Roberts has insisted that Leeds United are still not thinking too far ahead of the next game despite the growing hype of a possible promotion season.

Leeds went three points clear at the top of the Championship table on Tuesday night when they thrashed Preston North End 3-0 in front of a packed Elland Road.

Roberts scored a brace, his first two goals for the Yorkshire giants at senior level, and Liam Cooper chipped in with another as Leeds showed their mettle as promotion contenders.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are being hyped as a team who could be in the Premier League next season following a terrific start but Roberts stressed that the players themselves are keeping their feet on the ground.

The Leeds manager has been trying to manage expectations following a good start and it seems the players are taking their cue from him as the youngster insisted that they are only focusing on what lies ahead of them in the next game.

When asked if there is a growing sense inside the Leeds dressing room that they are in for something special this season, Roberts told LUTV: “I don’t think so really.

“We are actually so focused on just the next game, we don’t look down the next game or six months, thinking we could be top.

“Obviously we’ll be looking at Birmingham now, analysing them and take it from there.”

Bielsa is the first Leeds manager to remain unbeaten in his first eight league games.
