Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josh Onomah has revealed that Jos Luhukay played a crucial role in his decision to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan on transfer deadline day last month.

Onomah joined the Owls on a season-long loan deal on 31st August, alongside Michael Hector of Chelsea, and made his debut for Luhukay’s side during their 2-2 draw against Stoke City on Saturday.

The midfielder was loaned out to the Championship for a second consecutive season by Spurs after having made 33 appearances for Aston Villa, during their run to the playoff final, in England’s second division last season.

The England Under-21 international is looking to make the best of his opportunity at Hillsborough before returning to White Hart Lane.

The 21-year-old also revealed that Wednesday head coach Luhukay played a crucial role in convincing him to make the switch to Sheffield at the end of last month.

"I had never been to Sheffield before and for me as a person I like learning”, Onomah told the Star.

"I had other offers to go out on loan but I spoke to the gaffer here and he persuaded me to come.

“I'm excited to play under him.

"He seems a trustworthy man and my gut instinct said join Sheffield”, he added.

Sheffield Wednesday are next in action on Wednesday night when they play Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
