Manchester United new boy Diogo Dalot is keen to make it difficult for Jose Mourinho to leave him out of the team.

Dalot made his debut for the club on Wednesday night in Switzerland as Manchester United scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Young Boys in their opening group game of the Champions League.

The 19-year-old full-back, who joined the club in the summer, made an impression on his debut night and earned the praise of the Manchester United manager after the game.

Antonio Valencia, the club captain, is expected to return to the team against Wolves on Saturday and Dalot is happy that he is being forced to fight for a place in the side at the moment.

He is delighted with the competition for a slot in the eleven, but the Portuguese is ready to make life difficult for Mourinho by making it hard for him to be dropped.

Asked about the number of options at full-back, Dalot told MUTV: “That’s good for the team.

“There’s competition and that’s what every player likes.

"My job is to make the coach take difficult decisions.

“Now I am ready to start my season and I am hungry for more.”

Dalot has made only nine senior appearances, including Wednesday night’s showing, since breaking into FC Porto’s first team squad earlier this year.
