Several Tottenham Hotspur players have blamed tiredness and mental fatigue for their recent slump in form, according to the Times.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have lost their last two league games to Watford and Liverpool and slumped to their third defeat on the trot when they collapsed to a 2-1 defeat at Inter on Tuesday night.

Tottenham’s recent run of form has been a cause of concern for Pochettino as off-field issues regarding their new stadium continue to bug the club.

Spurs have a chance to arrest the slump when they travel to Brighton at the weekend but it has been claimed that several Tottenham players feel they need a break.

There are suggestions that some Spurs players are feeling tired and fatigued, both mentally and physically, and believe they need a few days off the recharge their batteries.

Tottenham have built a hotel at their Enfield base, which the players use in between training sessions and they checked into it when the squad returned from Milan earlier this week.

While Spurs players have no issues in spending the night in the hotel following returning from Italy, it has claimed to have added the sense that they are being overworked at the moment.

Pochettino’s decision not to change his training regime despite some of the players feeling the after-effects of the World Cup has further added to their longstanding complaints of not getting enough rest.
