Manchester United legend Lou Macari feels Paul Pogba is the answer for anyone trying to use the World Cup as an excuse for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s poor run of form this season.

Kane has not scored in Tottenham’s recent three-game losing streak and looked visibly tired in their Champions League encounter against Inter on Tuesday night.

The word from the Tottenham camp is the striker is one of the many Tottenham players who is feeling the after-effects of the World Cup and is mentally and physically fatigued at the moment.

Macari admits that Kane is going through a poor run of form and feels that can happen to any good footballer, but he is not buying the suggestion that the striker is tired because of the World Cup.

The Manchester United legend pointed out that Pogba, who played a leading role in France winning the World Cup, has not looked tired and has made a good start to the season at Old Trafford.

“I have heard the talk about other players, they are talking about Harry Kane”, Macari explained on MUTV.

“He is no different a centre-forward than he has been over the years, he’s a good player, but good players have bad spells.

“He is having a bit of a bad spell and all these crazy ideas about the World Cup drained him of being able to play football, they come out, but Paul Pogba got to the final.”

He continued: “There’s your answer – he played more than Harry Kane and he has started off exceptionally well for us.

“And he doesn’t look tired.”

Kane will be looking to fire Tottenham to a win over Brighton this evening.
