Rangers star Ovie Ejaria has admitted to being surprised by the fanatical support of the Gers fans, especially those who greeted the side at the airport upon their return from Russia.

Midfielder Ejaria is on loan at Rangers from Liverpool, with Gers boss Steven Gerrard using his connections at Anfield to land the 20-year-old.

Ejaria made a key contribution towards helping Rangers reach the group stage of the Europa League, hitting a superb strike in Russia against FC Ufa as the Gers navigated the playoff round.

He admits that the greeting from fans upon the side's return surprised him as he has never known anything like it.

"It's something I haven't experienced before", he told Rangers TV.

"So for me it was, I was surprised really, it was really good."

Rangers are currently having to switch between Europa League action and then turning out in the Scottish Premiership.

They drew in Spain at Villarreal on Thursday evening before then thrashing St Johnstone 5-1 at Ibrox in league action on Sunday.

And Ejaria thinks that the Gers are managing to adapt well between the different competitions.

"For me it was quite different because I didn't know what to expect too much in Scotland.

"But I've watched a lot of European games, so I know how some teams play.

"You do have to adapt to different playing styles and so far we've done it quite well."

Rangers also have Rapid Vienna and Spartak Moscow in their Europa League group and have made a good start to the campaign by drawing at Villarreal.
