Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has revealed Adam Forshaw is ready to start against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night, if he decides to play him.

The 26-year-old midfielder missed the first few weeks of the season due to an injury he sustained just before the start of the campaign.

The midfielder came on as a substitute in the last three league games for Leeds and Bielsa admits that he is ready to throw Forshaw in from the start if he wanted to.

The Leeds manager admits that the former Boro midfielder is still recuperating from the injury but he is physically prepared to play the full 90 minutes for Leeds, ahead of their Yorkshire derby on Friday.

He is expecting problems initially as the midfielder has not played a full game since pre-season, but at the moment Forshaw’s fitness can only be assessed when he starts for Leeds.

Bielsa said in a press conference: “Yes, Adam is a player ready to play.

“There is a difficulty he has to solve.

"This difficulty he can only solve by playing.

"Before getting injured he was the best player in the team. He was the best because he had six pre-season games to be fit.

“He has not played in the last month-and-a-half.

“He’s physical performance has been top. The real proof is during the game and the challenges of that.

“Now we are in this process, but he’s ready to play if we need him.”

Forshaw joined Leeds from Middlesbrough in January this year and has made 15 appearances for the club thus far.
