Roma are prepared to spend big money on Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City linked defender Matthijs de Ligt if they lose Kostas Manolas in the upcoming transfer windows.

A product of the Ajax academy, the 19-year-old centre-back has already played 79 games in the first team and has been appointed club captain of the Dutch giants.

He remains the most sought-after young defender in European football at the moment and some of the biggest clubs are prepared to pay big money to get their hands on him.

Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City and Tottenham have been linked with having an interest and the queue to sign De Ligt is only getting longer with each passing day.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Roma have also jumped into the fray for the Dutchman and are considering making a move for him in the near future.

Manolas’ future at Roma remains under the scanner and should the Greek defender leave, they are prepared to spend big in order to attract one of the best young talents in De Ligt.

The interest from other big clubs is something Roma are not concerned about it as they put in the groundwork for a move for the Ajax captain soon.
