Leeds United starlet Oliver Casey insists that the prospect of breaking into the first team at Elland Road makes the factor of being at the club more special and is sure if he can keep working hard there is no reason why he cannot catch Marcelo Bielsa's eye.

The 17-year-old was tied down to his first professional contract in November, and will remain at Elland Road until at least the summer of 2020.

Having won the Professional Development League North with the club's Under-18 team last season and now playing for the Under-23s, the youngster hopes that he can make it to the first-team in the future.

Players such as Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Kalvin Phillips, who have both graduated from the academy, have been regulars for Bielsa's team this season and Casey believes that if he can keep on working hard there is no reason he cannot follow in their footsteps.

“It [the prospect of making it to the first-team] is a factor of being here", Casey told his club's official website.

"You know if you keep working hard, there is a possibility you can get a chance and it is good to see friends now pushing on to the first team.

“My aim now is with the Under-18s to try and win the league and hopefully be pushing to get some more games at Under-23 level."

Leeds boss Bielsa has not been shy of handing young players chances this season, something which will encourage the academy talents.
