Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has emerged as the top defensive target for AC Milan ahead of the January transfer window.

Maurizio Sarri’s reluctance to tinker with his defence in the Premier League has led to the Dane not playing a single minute of league football this season.

The centre-back has been frustrated by the limited opportunities at Chelsea this season and his future at the club has been under the scanner ahead of the winter window.

He has long been linked with a move to AC Milan and the Rossoneri are said to be interested in taking him to Italy.

And according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the defender is indeed AC Milan’s top option when it comes to their plans for defensive reinforcements in the January window.

AC Milan are keen to open talks with Chelsea over a move for Christensen, with the Serie A giants expected to approach the Blues with an offer of an initial loan deal.

At 22, the Dane is still young for a defender and Chelsea are believed to be unwilling to lose a young talent of his quality.

However, if game time is hard to come by under Sarri, Christensen may push to head elsewhere to play regularly.
