Steven Gerrard has sent out a warning to clubs who want to snare the top performers away from Rangers during the January transfer window.

A dogged 2-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle at the weekend took Rangers to the top of the Scottish Premiership standings, above Glasgow rivals and champions Celtic.

A number of Rangers players have been in impressive form under Gerrard and a number of players have been linked with clubs in England.

Alfredo Morelos’ future at Rangers is again expected to come under the scanner ahead of the winter window, while James Tavernier is a man in demand, but Gerrard delivered a stern message to clubs wanting his top stars.

He insisted that clubs will have to pay big money to convince Rangers to sell any of their top players next month.

“For any club looking over our fence”, Gerrard said in a press conference.

“If you want our players you have to come with top top money.”

Gerrard wants to do incoming business in January and has already stated that he might dip into his funds for one more forward.
