Feyenoord coach Giovanni van Bronckhost believes Liverpool are the only side in Europe that can maintain breathless intensity for an entire 90 minutes.

Former Arsenal and Rangers midfielder Van Bronckhorst has been keen for his Feyenoord side to race out of the blocks in games, as they did at the weekend on the way to a 2-1 win over Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven at De Kuip.

Feyenoord scored twice within the opening 33 minutes and held on to inflict PSV's first league loss of the season.

Van Bronckhorst wants a similar approach again on Thursday night, when Feyenoord host VVV-Venlo, but he is sure that it is not possible to keep up such intensity for an entire game.

And the Dutchman believes only Liverpool are capable of doing such a thing.

"To do that for the whole game, that is only for a few teams in Europe", Van Bronckhorst told a press conference.

"I think only Liverpool are capable of it", he added.

If Feyenoord beat VVV-Venlo at De Kuip, they will move on to 32 points, but continue to sit third in the Eredivisie standings.

PSV sit top with 39 points, while Ajax have picked up 37 points; both teams have played a game more than Feyenoord.
