Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson insists that his men fully deserved their point after they held champions Celtic to a 1-1 draw in a Scottish Premiership clash at Fir Park this evening.

Celtic took the lead ten minutes in at Fir Park, with Ryan Christie the man to put the visitors in front.

Kieran Tierney was the provider, surging down the left flank and putting the ball on a plate for Christie, who then fired his shot past the Motherwell goalkeeper.

Motherwell worked hard to find a way back into the game and made sure they pressed Celtic, stopping the Bhoys from building up moves.

Celtic were handed a penalty in the 38th minute however when Andy Rose clipped Christie in the box, but Motherwell goalkeeper Mark Gillespie was equal to Leigh Griffiths' shot from the spot.

As the clock ticked down it seemed Celtic were heading for a 1-0 win, but just three minutes from time up popped Danny Johnson hit a shot past Craig Gordon to secure a point for Motherwell.

For Robinson, Motherwell deserved the point and he feels his men carried out their instructions to the letter.

"I think it's a deserved point", he told BBC Scotland.

"When you play against Celtic you've got to be disciplined and the players did what we tried to do to the letter.

"I think we deserved it and put pressure on them towards the end.

"We were limited in terms of what we could do in terms of our substitutions and people going off injured", Robinson added.
