Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has insisted that he had several reasons to accept the fresh challenge on offer from the Gunners and leave Borussia Dortmund.

The German earned accolades for his role in Dortmund’s recruitment of players and was elevated to the director of professional football position at the Westfalenstadion.

He had a major fall-out with former Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel and while the current Paris Saint-Germain boss left last year, Mislintat also left BVB for Arsenal in December last year.

Mislintat played down the role of his falling out with Tuchel in his decision to leave Dortmund and admits that he had several good reasons to seek a fresh challenge at Arsenal.

He conceded that before moving to north London he also had other offers from Germany and England.

Mislintat told German daily Zeit: “There were only good reasons to accept another challenge and not a single bad reason to leave Dortmund.

“The story with Thomas Tuchel was only crucial when thinking about everything.

“I used to have offers from England and Germany and paradoxically that’s the only way I got a higher profile.”

Mislintat played a key role behind the scenes in the deal to take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal from Dortmund earlier this year.
