Wigan Athletic boss Paul Cook has told Rangers manager Steven Gerrard that straightening out Alfredo Morelos is part of management and he now needs to educate the striker.

Rangers are Gerrard's first managerial job and the Liverpool legend has received plaudits for the work he has done so far at Ibrox.

However, Rangers have struggled to control their discipline under Gerrard and have suffered repeated sending offs in games.

Morelos has been given his marching orders twice this season and also picked up a whopping ten yellow cards in 28 appearances.

Cook believes that Gerrard will have to change the 22-year-old's ways and doing so is part of management.

"Morelos seems to keep getting sent off", Cook told journalist Derek Clark.

"That's part of managing for Steven.

"He now has to take Morelos away and educate him."

Cook also said that he expects Gerrard to have a "fantastic career as a manager".

Rangers lost top spot in the Scottish Premiership in midweek when they went down to a 1-0 defeat at home against Aberdeen, a game Morelos was sent off in.
